A mandala is a symbol made up of geometric shapes. It is used both artistically and spiritually. For spiritual traditions it is used as a spiritual guidance tool. It helps establish a sacred space for meditation and trance induction. Different cultures have a variety of styles and types. There are three main types of mandalas.
- Healing Mandala: Healing mandalas are used to awaken wisdom, induce calm feelings, and channel focus and concentration.
- Teaching Mandala: Teaching mandalas are used as colorful, mental maps for their creators.
- Sand Mandala: Intricate designs made from colored sand that represent the impermanence of human life, as a reminder of what it means to exist.
