    • Rabari red wool hand quilted soft cotton ajarakh fringe tribal embroidery Andrea Serrahn SerrahnaRabari red wool hand quilted soft cotton ajarakh fringe tribal embroidery Andrea Serrahn Serrahna
      $450.00
This is a rare bird.  A most unusual coat made entirely by hand.  The red wool is spun by hand and woven into a shawl.  It is then heavily embellished by the Rabari community.   Small mirrors are embedded in the embroidery within the coat.  Fair to say that the woman who embroidered this piece is a craft master. The Rabari are nomadic camel herders from western India.  The heavy wool shawls are often found in black, brown, and sometimes red.  This one is most rare, as it is finished with hundreds of multicolored hand wrapped fringes. I had my tailors join the embroidery with a hand printed and quilted soft cotton ajarakh.
The coat is a size Large and measures 46″ across the chest.  It weighs 3 pounds.  If tribal-chic is your thing, this one is for you!
Cobalt blue mongolian fur is detachable and sold separately.
