The Turkmen are a nomadic ethnic group in central Asia. Tribal crafts play a strong role in the social lives of the women, who gather together to work on embroidery, discuss their lives and share their creativity. The thread colors used represent protection from the evil eye, good fortune and good health.
Our very cool neckpiece is a wonderful example of Turkmen needlework, with fancy crystal and metal decoration and beaded tassels on the embroidered pendant. The necklace is black beaded crochet and measures 28" when tied, 48" long at its full extension.
