We're thrilled to introduce the very first design from our Redux love Line, a Serrahna line that gives upcycled textiles a new life. Please welcome the Ruby Kimono from our most recent trip to India. Here's a little back story to the name. Andrea's charming workshop is located at the very end of Ruby Street, a sweet little street off the bustling main market in Bhuj where many sacred creatures roam, rest and recreate daily. One such creature is a young female village dog that quickly stole our hearts, which we instantly named Ruby. She has a beautiful black body with tan mask and socks, a slight gimp in her forward step but spritely, spirited and whip-smart (there's a photo in the gallery of her napping on moped nearby the shop). She became the shop's mascot and our trusted, constant companion. It was love at first sight! She entertained and inspired us hourly. Hence, the perfect name for our latest kimono-style coat, The Ruby Kimono!
This one-of-a-kind Ruby Kimono is extraordinary due to the whimsical pairing of rich ruby red tussar silk with artful hand painted deer and a flowering cherry blossom tree along the back and front of skirt and sleeve cuffs. The ruby tussar is elegantly juxtaposed with the cotton print sage teal and pink of the lapel and trim, which both prints are from upcycled saris. The feel of this coat is pure lux and delight--literally a painting come to life. Two side vent pockets and a single button closure with two 7" long Turkmen silk multi-colored tassels. Size Large with a 48" chest measurement. Wear open or closed. The Ruby kimono looks great with everything! Pair with boots or sandals, layered up or down. A classic kimono with a whimsical personality.
